My thoughts are still evolving on the veils of Islam. I keep being driven to learn about Islam, to understand Islam, to be able to fully answer: what is Islam, and how did it develop?
The next phase involves the original Arabist politico-religious 'movement' and the obvious cover-up of it that occurred following the death of Mohammed.
The original documents of Islam are mysteriously missing for 200 years, when we should expect them to have been scrupulously preserved!
This lack of any documentary evidence should not be, since we are talking about an historic period where writing was widespread and writing materials available everywhere. Many documents exist around the world from the years 600-900 AD.
But writings chronicling early Islam do not exist before around 850... that is, more than 200 years and about ten generations after the claimed death of Mohammed.
If Mohammed was considered Allah's final and greatest prophet from the beginning of the 'movement', why were all the early writings about Mohammed destroyed including Korans owned by his wives?? Obviously, something is not right in the cover story.
Writings that incriminated the first caliphs were apparently burned and for some reason these caliphs imposed a 200-years' silence about Mohammed.
Then, Mohammed suddenly becomes a cultic religious figure in the space of 50 years between 750 and 800! What was the sudden need to create the cult of Mohammed that was not there before?
There are a number of theories about the great early Islamic cover-up... as to who was involved and why it occurred... but it cannot be denied that a big cover-up did occur! We are told by the caliphs and their lackeys (200 years after the events) that the original documents were burned, but the stories these writers tell are contradictory and don't add up. The religion of Islam appears to have been patched together by the caliphs over seven generations between 700 and 850 AD. There was no sudden agreement on any aspect of this Arab political movement, but ceaseless, bitter differences to the point of mutual assassination and slaughter among the Moslems who were closest to knowing the truth.
This story of political intrigue, internecine fighting and betrayal is my next line of study.

To Ever More Learning About Islam
There are as many journeys as there are people. The road is not the same for two travelers. Our interest, our questions, shape the journey.
Reading Vince's journey I see someone who picked up something, almost by accident - and has now spent three years following the questions that came to him, questions that got him to learn about Islam and understand Islam, and keep learning about Islam.
Are his answers accurate? I know that I am not the one to go over the masses of documents he has gone over. I know many others have come to conclusions similar to his - many of them Muslims.
