My Love. Not Forbidden, But …

I’m in love with my brother-in-law`s brother. My problem is that his mother is not ready because she think that two sisters in one home is not good. but I love him a lot. Please suggest to me what to do.

There is no reason why 2 sisters should not marry 2 brothers, especially if the 2 sisters get along. (If they fight all the time, it could make things difficult, unless they stay apart. But even then, it should be their choice.)

Still, I think I understand your sister’s mother-in-law (your boyfriend’s mother). The situation is unusual. Also, she may not feel comfortable having 2 women who are very close as her daughters-in-law.

My first question: do you and your sister get along with her? Maybe, the better you get along with her, the more likely it is that she will welcome you.

My biggest question: have you talked with her about what makes her uncomfortable? As far as I know, there is no reason – religious, etc – to be against the marriage.

If she is religious, you could suggest she talk to someone she respects from that religion. That might help the most.

Most, it is her son’s right – and your right – to be with each other, if that is what you both want. Often parents want their children to do what the parents want (in terms of profession, partner, etc). But as we grow up, it is our right to choose.
