Cards hearts and flowers
in each shopfront
on each corner
But love can’t be hurried
so the day hurries by
with no cards hearts and flowers
with no call from a lover
with a book in the bedroom
a book about horror
or about medieval warfare
or about ancient rites
a book to set me yawning
goodnight, day, goodnight
goodnight, Valentine’s Day
goodnight, no sweetheart
goodnight, until tomorrow
a new day
a new start
‘cause there’s one thing I know
I will not stay alone
lost in hopes
or in memories
time to move on
