Stupid George Bush
I've written, over and over again, about the self righteous - and their frequently colossal rage. But I haven't written about Bush, often referred to as stupid George Bush. Too many others have gotten there before me.
However, every now and then it's time to take a look around, give out a few medals and awards, and here stupid George Bush comes to mind. Hard to be more self righteous in the face of massive evidence you're making a huge mess of things.
Stupid George Bush - ready to take on the axis of evil, to imagine weapons of mass destruction, to blunder into Iraq instead of completing what was started in Afghanistan, to criticize anyone who didn't follow his lead, and to take credit for anything - like coming up with a bail-out plan for the US economy, the economy that was in great shape when he came into office but that now has the markets in a mess all over the world.
I don't actually consider him stupid George Bush. I definitely don't think of him as funny George Bush. George Bush funny? Bleakly blackly so, I suppose. Personally I consider him psychologically impaired. MORE
We're
born with the capacity to learn
to see what is going on around us.
All too many instead learn
self righteousness, denial and rage.
Do we learn to get as much information
as possible? Or do we learn to build
high walls, massive barriers,
where almost nothing can get through?

Those are the words that come up for George Bush, when one searches on the internet.
I see him as living in self righteous denial of things that go outside his range.
The Dalai Lama. He recognizes him as good, gets a photo op with him.
That other countries did not share his vision of Iraq and what needed to be done:
that is evil, and even food had to be renamed - from French fries to freedom fries.
I've come back to think about him as an election is on its way in the States -
and one of the candidates, Governor Sarah Palin, seems to share many of Bush's psychological characteristics.
