LEAN ON ME THE STORY
Lean on me
Yes you can
Lean on me
I understand
you need
a helping hand
you need
to lean on me
Stay with me
you can
and you'll find
a loving hand
so you can
yes you can
lean on me
Lean on me
don't be shy
Lean on me
lean and try
to trust
that you can
lean on me
Lean on me
it's my way
of saying
please stay
I would love
to have
you lean on me
You are strong
but don't belong
alone
Lean on me
come and try
you can lean
for a while
Come and lean
come and lean
come and lean
lean on me

THE STORY BEHIND THE SONG
It's way after midnight. I'm awake. I woke up earlier. Messy time in life, with the co-owner of our building. I'm thinking of Philippe, of all the work - and of his being there. And the words come into my head - lean on me. As often has happened, I don't know if I'm taking the melody or even words from someone else's piece.
Like long ago, when I first started hearing "words in my head," I don't really care - or I do care to find out, but scribble down the words, and record the melody I hear. If it's someone else's piece, picked up from hearing it somewhere - which it never has been, so far - I'm sure I will find out. In the meantime, I let the music continue to play in my head.
Lean on me
for a while,
lean on me
and try,
to trust
that you can
lean on me.
So, the story behind the song. I was thinking of Philippe and myself when awake in the middle of the night - the bonds between us - shaky at times - but it seems we are making a life together.
Lean on me
and try,
to trust
for a while
that you can
that you can
lean on me.

Elsas Words Music. Words.
Lean on me. Trust you can. You can.
Lean. On me.
Love song. Country music lyrics.
Love poetry. Love spoken word poetry.
Lean on me. And try. To trust.
A dozen
years ago,
I began to wake up
with word pieces -
words music, spoken word, songs -
in my head.
Escape velocity.
Echo of the echo.
Tank almost empty.
Can't cross the gap.
Welcome into my world.

WORDS
MUSIC WORDS
Every
time I'm going
into the words not knowing
what kind of thing I'm doing
what is this thing I'm making
what are these words creating
words music and me
words music can be
words music going
into spoken word love song
not knowing
what words music poetry
the words and music will be
Words
music, lean on me, rhythm beat,
spoken word poetry,
words music, love song,
love poetry,
whispered, sung.
What is this?
spoken word love song?
love rhythm song?
Where do these words belong?
They don't follow song rules
so they can't be songs
This is a love song
with a love feel,
This is a love poem
But also to be sung -
romantic, loving,
country folk,
soft and loving,
song
.
words music words
rhythm beat strong
words to be spoken
words to be sung
words to be lived
moments
word music worlds
rhythm beat
What's cooking?
Whatever comes -
words alive
words strong
words music worlds
rhythm beat
strong
movement
words moving
words shaping
words taking
words trying
to catch life
to catch moments
moments like fireflies
one moment bright
next moment gone
words
words and rhythm
words to be spoken
words to be sung
words, sounds, music
word music worlds
words going on and on
like the beat of a drum
word pieces
piecing together moments
word music worlds
stronger
fainter
closer
and then
can't hear
they're gone
like moments
