I'm writing today because I have a question so many of us face: What is enough? When do you know you have enough? Also, does the conviction that I need to do more, reach more people, make sense, or is it the kind of hunger that can never be filled?

By the way, I used to send to you every now and then - but basically stopped for a few years. Now my intention is to write every month or so. Now, back to the question: what is enough?

I have more material stuff than I could ever have imagined owning as a child. Though I'm far from rich, I feel I have enough. My guess is that many of us born over 50 years ago have more than we could have, as children, ever imagined owning. I remembe, at about age 8, having 2 tops in the summer - and that felt like enough.

But since I started with, what is enough, it's more than likely that there are some ways I feel I don't have enough.

A friend and neighbor died last October - someone good to visit in the evening, watch a video with, have a scotch with. I miss him - that friendship, his company, the sense of a good ending to the day. There's a sense: I don't have enough of that kind of friendship.

Also, I've been on my own for quite a few years. Lots of love from pets - but I can feel that couple love is missing. My pets are fantastic - individual, fun, loving. I'm glad that each and every one of them is in my life. I have enough pet love. But there is that missing place, that place for good couple love.

Perhaps most, though I send to more and more people, reach more and more people, I know that the reach is not enough. I remember the first classes I taught, several decades ago. It felt so utterly amazing: people who enjoyed listening to my ideas, who learned from my teaching. I got rave reviews. At that time, it was more than enough. I went on with teaching, got tenured college teaching. Fabulous. But at some point it became far from enough. I needed to reach more people, and with more of my stuff.

A bit over a decade ago, I started putting creative pieces and idea pieces online. Right from the start, I also sent out to quite a lot of people. That was enough for a time.

It's not enough now. Is it all just ego? - like a kid going, Mommy, Daddy, come watch, come watch!!

My sense: my ideas are important, the way I express things is very effective.

Anyway, I keep going on.

How do you feel about the question: what is enough? What's your answer?

And then, do I have anything for you beyond the question about enough? Yes. A poem. An energy exercise. An idea piece. The poem was written almost 2 decades ago, but recorded very recently. The energy exercise is something I do almost daily. And the idea piece is from years ago - one of the first pieces I recorded. It's on the need for white pride. What??? My sense is that the piece is even more relevant than a few years ago. I see so much rage against whites, so much denigration of whites. Every white is a racist, I hear from many sources. What's my sense? My sense is that we all need to feel pride in who we are and in our background. We need to acknowledge the negative parts of the past - and also the positive.
