differrance in eating habits

hi,

I'm in a relationship with a boy for last the 7 years and after years of struggle our parents have finally agreed to our marriage. He is a non- vegetarian while I'm pure vegetarian. Initially we didn't realize this difference but now when we are going to be married soon and started discussing about family stuff, this eating difference is posing a big problem. He doesn't want me to eat or cook non veg but still I'm unable to accept all this. I just cannot bear the thought of non veg cooking in my kitchen, though he has promised to make non veg rarely at home and that too in a separate kitchen but I don't know how much of it will actually happen. We have had long discussions and even clashes over this issue but it always ended without any conclusion. what should I do??


My answer. I don't know how to resolve this. I'm quite vegetarian, and I know I don't like meat in my kitchen.

However, your husband-to-be is not trying to have you cook non veg or even cook meat in the same kitchen. That seems considerate to me.

On the other hand, it seems you are not comfortable with meat in your home.

Personally, I favor having only vegetarian dishes at home.

But this is something the 2 of you need to resolve.

One thing: it seems you are not sure you trust that he will continue to accept not having meat cooked in the kitchen you cook in. Is there a reason for this? Or is he generally very trustworthy, so that he should be trustworthy around this too.

One thought: the 2 of you have been together for 7 years. So may you find a loving solution to this and to other issues that come up with each other.
