COMBAT ZONE on ARE ALL OPINIONS EQUAL?
MAGIC BULLET ONE. If all opinions are equal, then the opinion that all opinions are not equal is equal to the opinion that they are - a logical contradiction. When statements contradict each other - I was out at the bar, I was asleep in bed - only one can be true. Which one? A statement that contains its contradiction has to be false. "All opinions are NOT equal" - no self contradiction. "All opinions are equal, which must include the opinion that they are not" - SELF CONTRADICTION, therefore FALSE.
TWO. To say "All opinions are equal" is akin to saying "God is alive. God is dead. God is a turnip." You have to show this is so. And in my experience, people who hold that all opinions are equal don't have a clue how to prove this - like some people just know that blacks are inferior, women are inferior, etc. Show it! When they try, MASS CONFUSION. What does equal mean? The same? Equal in value? Equal in validity?

Most people divorce opinion from action! - so they think all opinions are fine, because (in their view)
opinions don't matter, only actions matter. It shocks them to find out that opinions fuel action.

Note that, realizing the connection between opinion and action, most people still don't abandon the belief
that all opinions are equal.
BE WARNED: the most common response is to defend the position that opinions don't need to lead to action
with the assertion that
for some people, opinions don't lead to action.
THE ANSWER: this is INACCURATE. When people don't act on an opinion - for example, they don't beat gays
even though they believe gays are inferior, they usually have an opinion or fear that blocks actio -
so they may not beat gays because
* they have the opinion that one should not beat gays,

or they may fear being caught and punished.

to change reality by having people see more of reality
in this case, the goal is to:
* to have people recognize the power of opinon;
* to have people recognize that not all opinions are equal;
* to have people recognize that opinions with the most substantiation
(the most facts to back them) are way better than opinions with no or very little backing;
* to have people recognize that they need to back their own opinions, if the opinions are to have any value;
* to have people do their best to back their opinions;
* to have people do more thinking in general.
