Call it My Creative Space.

What is this place, beyond its name?

It's a place for everyone (for now, mainly in English)
to upload some of their creative works,
and also to give links to more.

Creative works?

Music of all kinds: a classical sonata, spoken word,
country and western, new age funk,
pop, rock, trip hop, hip hop, R&B, blues, jazz,
jazzy world beat, folk rock,
rap, rap-like -
from raucous to mellow and more.

Story stuff: a section of a novel, stories,
dreams, children's stories, preteen book,
science fiction, fantasy, romance,
bio, autobiographical writing, plus.

Images: paintings, drawings, photographs,
images that have been photoshopped,
computer-generated images. plus.

Video.

Also, creative thinking - good ideas.
Good thinking makes creative connections.
Bad thinking is anti-creative, deadening,
diminishing the ability to think.
The Creativity Emporium welcomes
this fabulous form of creativity -
great thinking.

Yet another question: what's the good of such a space?

So many creative people I know - including myself -
have found it extremely hard to find a home for their works.

Is it us?
After all, some people do get through,
do get a large enough audience.

Okay, so maybe it's partly us.

But the odds are also stacked against us.
It's a bit like, what are the odds of marrying
Prince Charming (if one should want to marry him)? -
and on top of that, almost the whole world knows
that even when one does, it may not work out -
as it sure didn't work out for Diana.

The web makes a lot possible.
One can create a home for one's works,
and do one's best to get others to notice.

How does The Creativity Emporium fit in?
It's yet one more place.
Also, the goal is to have it easy to search the site,
so works are easily found,
whether they'e mainstream or well off the beaten path -
a bit like on vacation rental sites,
where it's as easy to find the places available in Baffin Island
as in central London.

There's yet another thing
The Creativity Emporium aims to offer -
easy connections, easy responding.

Connection and maybe even a sense of community.

is this oasis
by any other name.

So instead of getting caught up
in finding the perfect name,
I've come to a name that feels
good enough,
clear enough,
and large enough.

Hello,
calling all search engines
and
all creative people
(for now, mainly those with at least
a working knowledge of English)
who would like another home for their work.
