Meg, Jon and Myra Face a Cold and Rainy Day

Meg did not like the idea of going down into the basement. Not when there was no grown up around.
Not when there were bangs coming coming from the basement.

Her look was every bit as determined as Myra's. "I want more of the story."

With that, she clicked to continue.

But for once she wasn't really reading. Reading didn't feel safe, not with the groaning sounds in the basement.

She closed her eys and went back to magic words.

And then with apostrophes: Chidren's audio books. Online children's books. Kids' books.
And then again without. Children audio books, online kids books, online children stories, kid books.

Her mother went over and over her mantra when she was stressed out.
Did the mantra do anything? Meg didn't know. Anyhow, Meg preferred her mother saying to words over and over
to having her mother yell the way Myra's mother did.

Could the words do anything, the way garlic was supposed to ward off vampires?

Meg decided to say them one more time for good measure.

When she opened her eyes Myra and Jonathan were both staring at her.

Suddenly a door slammed.
