I Can Only Imagine ... |

I've been checking out what people search out on the web - like imagine, imagination, fantasy, play pretend stuff, make believe. Imagine. John Lennon wrote that song over a quarter of a century ago. His words still stir millions. Imagine a world without war or hunger. Imagine. I can only imagine how important his song has been to others. Often the tone is lighter, when one searches out words like imagination and fantasy and pretend. Thousands and thousands check monthly for all kinds of fantasy worlds - everything from fantasy art angels and angel art fantasy, to fantasy dragon, fantasy stock market, fantasy baseball, even fantasy football news. What's your fantasy? Whatever it is, it's likely on the web. It's not just on the web, of course. Millions read novels and watch movies like Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Star Wars, Batman and Superman. Fantasy - that's a more adult word, or at least a word for adolescents and up. For children it's pretend, play pretend, and make believe. There is even Fosters Home for Imaginary Friends, an imaginary foster home for imaginary friends. It's the land of make believe, when it's for children. Otherwise said, suddenly it's only make believe. But I don't know if it's children who search out printable pretend money, print pretend money, pretend checks. Other things, though, are definitely kid stuff: pretend play school, pretend school, time to pretend, pretend soup, pretend play kitchen. But then, when the going gets rough, it's grown-ups who say, pretend this is fiction, and pretend you don't see her. Maybe it's play pretend for children, because then we're often very open about our pretend worlds. How important is imagination, from the words we use? It's only make believe. It's all in your head. It's just a fantasy. Never never land. Sometimes the words we use make imagination seem unimportant. But how important is imagination? All around us are these world which we recognize are not real - these worlds of fantasy, of science fiction, of dragons and dungeons, pretend kitchens and pretend super heroes, of make believe. There are also the worlds of songs like Imagine - where we imagine what we want to make real, and what we often believe we can make real. signed, Elsa To go
