The Idea Emporium
proof of life after death, true stories of the supernatural, proof of ghost dogs, evidence of the paranormal,
paranormal proof, the search for true paranormal experiences -
logic and longing meet lots of claims of paranormal proof, proof of life after death - but no ready evidence.
"It
is a fact readily acknowledged,
that for humans, an idea is much more
powerful than a fact."
I don't know who said those words. But they ring so true for me.
And nowhere do they ring more true than when it comes to claims
of true stories of the paranormal, proof of life after death.
Where Is My Dad? And My Dog?
A Longing for
True Stories of the Paranormal
Longing doesn't make things real. It also doesn't make them untrue.
Five years ago now my father - such a creative and passionate man, but with so much of his potential unrealized - died suddenly. Death was coming - he had had damaging micro strokes. Then suddenly, in a car crash, he was dead.
One day less than a month later, a dog I loved very much was hit by a car. My fault. I let her out. So much was happening - my mother was injured in the accident that killed my father - that i forgot about Fluffers until I heard her cry out.
I heard Joan Didion read from her book, The Year of Magical Thinking, about the year after her husband died. But where does magical thinking end and true magic begin? It's only now, years later, that I'm exploring this subject that, for me, despite my love of logic and my lack of contact with the supernatural, still tugs at me. MORE
and to think. It's when we feel
that it's hardest to stay with the facts.
The facts and nothing but the facts - that's for a court of law. It also matters when we approach reality. What are the facts. Of course longing and attitude affect things. Those who believe they will recover from a major illness are more likely to do so. Researchers who keep searching are more likely to find an answer. For now I'm searching.

don't know who wrote that, but I will take that as my springboard for some
ideas of mine.
One idea is that, just as ideas can close our minds (the idea
that one race is better than another, for example),
ideas can expand them. Here the ideas are about claims of true stories of the paranormal,
proof of life after death, evidence of ghosts, including proof of ghost dogs.
The Idea Emporium Explores
One of my lifelong concerns has been trying
to make sense of reality. What is happening? Why is this happening?
And with that I come to ideas - ideas about reality, ideas that need
to be checked against reality,
not just believed in like the tooth
fairy is accepted by a child. That includes everything to do with the possibility of
proof of life after death, claims of true stories of the paranormal, proof of ghosts, paranormal proof.
