WALKING WITH JOHN LENNON

Walking by the beach
I imagined John Lennon
Walking by the beach
I talked to John Lennon

            Hey old friend
            glad you dropped by
                        for a while

Walking by the beach
I remembered old friends
Walking by the beach
I talked to John Lennon

            So tell me ...
            He said nothing
                        just smiled

His arm around Yoko
he walked along silently
His arm around Yoko
he said, I love you

            She looked up
            said nothing
                        just smiled
            Glad you found peace
                        old friend

Walking by the beach
I saw John Lennon
Yoko was with him
I imagined old friends
felt peace for a while

I know it's just my fantasy
                        my own land of dreams
But man, I love you too
                        I do

I know it's just my fantasy
                        my own land of dreams
But man, I see you, I do
                        and I too love you

I wish you well, old friend
time and time and time again
                        Rockstar popstar
man I've dreamed of from afar
man with terrors of his own
                        man like me sometimes alone

I know it's just my fantasy
my own land of dreams
But man, I love you too
I do

Walking by the beach
I imagined John Lennon
Walking by the beach
I talked to John Lennon
and felt peace for a while

FROM WORDS TO
OUT IN THE WORLD -
STEPS AND MORE STEPS

Every now and then I've found people to do a piece or two with. Most were doing their own thing, and after a bit continued their own way. In this case the two were Ed Deigan and Yves Laporte.

For this song, I heard a riff, and listening to the riff, "heard" this song. It's the song of a man who had loved John Lennon for a long time - his music and what he stood for. I was lucky enough to find musicians - Yves Laporte who arranged the piece and Ed Deigan - vocals, bass guitar, guitar, recording and initial mix.

This piece is definitely a song. The words can be spoken, but in my head they are sung.

And then what happened? Where does one go with an initial mix? I tried for a couple of grants (for this piece and Gap), but did not get any. I felt like a child shut away, locked in a spare room, a child with so much to offer, not knowing how to get out.

Then Zee's Cafe Cafe was developed. This was to go there. I learned a lot about Dreamweaver, a web editing program, the summer I worked on that. Once again, no grant. And once again, the well dried - all the work that had gone into the making of the web cafe took up the summer. I did some more the next year, but I needed some door to open, some door into the world.

I have the sense I am making such a door - have found a likely door through all I've learned about the web over the past couple of years.

This is one of the first handful of word pieces to be put up on that site.

Peaceful Poems.
Rockstar popstar,
man I've dreamed of from afar,
man with terrors of his own,
man like me sometimes alone.
John Lennon in My Life.
Love John Lennon.
Finding Inner Peace.

A dozen years ago,
I began to wake up
with word pieces -
words music, spoken word, songs -
in my head.
Escape velocity.
Echo of the echo.
Tank almost empty.
Can't cross the gap.
Welcome into my world.

WORDS MUSIC WORDS
PEACEFUL POEMS
MOMENTS
MOMENTS OF INNER PEACE

Every time I'm going
into the words not knowing
what kind of thing I'm doing
what is this thing I'm making
what are these words creating

Words music, music words, rhythm beat,
spoken word, song,
words music, words beat,

Peaceful poems,
finding inner peace,
poems about peace,
peace in the inner world,
the inner whirl.

Peace.
Imagine John Lennon.
Lyrics flow.
Imagine John and Yoko.
Everything slows.
Peace.

and from peace
peaceful poems,
a peaceful moment,
peaceful words,
a song of finding inner peace
I imagine John Lennon
and I come to peace.

Poems about peace
a poem about love
a poem about regret
for living cut short
and yet living lived fully

and so I come to
peaceful poems
peaceful words

yet his were not all peaceful
and he was heard

John Lennon in my life
John Lennon far and yet near

John Lennon
peaceful poems
peaceful moments
moments of inner peace

I imagine John Lennon
