Ollio the Awful isn't really awful. But if you're trying to enjoy supper,
and a plaintive meow, meow, meow is coming from Ollio
as he wanders around, obviously distressed by something -
maybe global warming, maybe the the lack of quality education for cats -
you too might be inclined to call him awful.
The best way to shush him is not to try to silence him,
but to go to him, or call him to come, and then comfort him.
Sometimes that works, at least for a few minutes.
It can take a bit of self control, and sympathy for his obvious distress.
No one is being mean to him, but still there he goes.
Why is he like this? That's another of life's unsolved mysteries.
He had MamaCat's wonderful mothering. Of course, if you want to blame
Mom, maybe you could fault her for being too giving.
He started out as the last kitten in the litter to open his eyes.
And now? He looks like a cross between a racoon and a mouse.
Persia, so ready to comfort Madame the Neurotic, does not go up to Ollio.
But Ollio seeks out Persia and Madame. And when he curls up between them,
or on them, he is quiet. Peace, at least for a moment.
No one could be more different than Ollio than
TiNoir the Friendly.
