Part 5. There I was, having found SiteSell. SiteSell - everything together in one place, everything needed to make the search engines take notice, and everything so very inexpensive. On top of that, I had bought a space for my own site on SiteSell. Yet I did not use so much of what it offered. Was I a nut?

Maybe.

Yes, there I was, Elsa in SiteSell Wonderland, hungry for increased search engine traffic, and I didn't rush for the full buffet.

It isn't that I turned my back on what I found. I tremendously appreciated the tools. But ...

I was too far on my own journey to take advantage of everything. I'd already created an (invisible) site. I've always liked design. I cared too much for the way my own site looked, for my creation to abandon it. So the ready-to-use templates and the easy building blocks were not for me. I didn't want to start over, using the ready-to-use templates.

No regrets. But a lot of extra hard work.

I had to learn to integrate all the things for increased search engine traffic INTO a site which looked good to human eyes, but didn't exist as far as the search engines were concerned.

It took much longer - like renovating a house with no insulation, no plumbing, no electricity. Much easier to get it right from the start. But just like some of us love things like old homes and put in the effort to renovate, I put in the effort to learn to do what needed doing.

I'm grateful that using your own web pages - your own html pages, for those of your familiar with the terminology - is an option with SiteSell. It's great for anyone who uses HTML and Dreamweaver and FrontPage - and for anyone who likes a more individual presentation. This may not get higher ranking in search engine searches. But I love creativity. So doing my own designs is right for me.

So, though I couldn't use everything SiteSell has to offer, SiteSell has given me what I've needed all my life:

the tools to go from wanting,
to being actually able to reach the world.

For me, that's nothing short of a miracle.
