ALIENS HAVE LANDED
Aliens have landed
at the movies
in my dreams
in my head
and my life
They come in peace
destroy the world
rupture chests
devour, invade
overthrow, save
are just like us
have alien gifts
Take your pick
In my dream
they're at the door
I quickly hide
the radio beacon
I've used to call them
inside
icing.
That takes the cake.
Icing
a sweet but frosty exterior
like mine when I am afraid
I am afraid
They come to raid
invade
betray
my hope
my trust
will use my signal just
to fulfill
an evil lust
for death
Aliens have landed
at the movies
in my dreams
in my life
They come in peace
destroy the world
rupture chests
devour, invade
overthrow, save
are just like us
have alien gifts
We do not know
In my dream
I take the cake
and then I break
into laughter
quaking
shaking
awakening
to joy
And in life
someone
wants me
wants me
to be
- alien concept -
his wife
Yet I did invite
him into my
life
and now he wants me
wants me
to be
an alien concept
It leaves me reeling
It's not unappealing
Yet I am afraid
he will betray
my hopes and longings.
I hide my fears under warmth, silence, icing.
My radio beacon waits.

A dozen
years ago,
I began to wake up
with word pieces -
words music, spoken word, songs -
in my head.
Escape velocity.
Echo of the echo.
Tank almost empty.
Can't cross the gap.
Welcome into my world.
SPOKEN WORD POETRY
ABOUT THE ULTIMATE ALIEN
Spoken poetry
goes through my brain
about alien invasion -
familiar terrain,
this alien invasion,
but outside my control -
can't even tell,
will they save the world
or leave it cold?
Confused love poems
slip through my brain -
alien invasion,
familiar terrain -
but aliens are alien
though they come again and again
Spoken word poetry ..
silent wondering
confused love feelings
confused love poems
very confused.
What kind of invasion?
Is it alien invasion,
leaving ruin and pain?
Or is it ...?
