What's on the Menu?
The waitress sighs.
The menu is long and varied.
The menu goes on and on.
She starts in,
On the menu? Well, there's the music menu,
the spoken word menu, the online poetry menu,
the poetry online menu,
not to mention the online love poems menu,
and then we get the romantic love poems and songs menu,
or would you like the rap poetry menu,
or how about ...?
She pauses.
The menu is one thing.
Desire is another.
Head space.
Where someone is at.
Is it heart ache time?
Is it in love time?
Is it something altogether different?
After a considerable pause, she gets an answer.
Not a very helpful answer.
Quite some menu you have here.
Another pause.
What would you suggest?
It's a question she doesn't have an answer for.
She would suggest it all.
Well, she starts,...
Hmmm.
She starts again.
Well, if you like spoken word,
I'd suggest spoken word poetry.
You can have spoken word grilled, flambed, or charbroiled.
You can have love spoken word poetry, rap spoken word.
You can have it with a side order of
new alternative
rock music,
or with a side order of country love song lyrics.
For dessert, I could suggest something light,
White Chocolate and Hot Fudge Sauce.
But maybe you're more into online poetry, poetry online,
online love poems. Or how about ...?
She pauses.
All around people have their servings, hot and savory,
light and delightful, succulent and tasty, heavy and hot,
from the music menu, the spoken word menu,
the online poetry menu.
I'll be back, she says.
