A dozen
years ago,
I began to wake up
with word pieces -
words music, spoken word, songs -
in my head.
Escape velocity.
Echo of the echo.
Tank almost empty.
Can't cross the gap.
Welcome into my world.
CHRONOLOGICAL?
REVERSE CHRONOLOGICAL?
IN REVERSE CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER?
There are many ways of ordering,
and it could be said that any is better than none.
One thing for me has been dating.
When I write something,
I try to remember to jot the date on it.
So one obvious way of ordering is through chronology,
to sort things chronologically.
It doesn't isn't what suits.
if someone is looking for love poems and songs,
they don't care about chronological order.
They want deep romantic love poetry and lyrics.
If someone is looking for anger poetry, peaceful poems,
spoken word about life,
they don't want to look at dates.
Dates are irrelevant.
But dates have mattered to me.
So I've done 2 sortings.
I've sorted by like unto like,
and then chronologically.
I've opted for reverse chronological order
for the years.
And yet within each year,
I've felt more comfortable with
simple chronological order.
This sorting -
for those of you to care to look at the flow of things,
and for me.
