ARE YOU THE ONE?

are you the one?
is the search done?
or must I go on?

      it's been so long
           so


are you the one?
will you disappear?
or are you here?
and how do I feel?

I'm too tired to know


     all I know

if I don't go on
I'll never reach home

     always alone


but are you the one?
or have you gone?

     two days
     no call


must I go on?
and what do I feel?
what feelings could grow?

I don't know
all I know
I need to go on


     like in the escape from Alcatraz
     like in the journey through hell and back
     like in the hardest quest   
          sand, dessert, no rest
          ice, storms, freezing rain
          cracked skin, cracked dreams


sometimes too tired
          to go on
sometimes can't feel
          I am strong
sometimes don't know
          can I go on
               be strong


will I ever belong
          in loving arms?


are you the one?
are you gone?
and my feelings?
what could I feel?


I continue
but need to rest


I remember the little match girl
          she fell asleep in the snow
                    no more matches
                              to warm with their glow


where is the warmth
                              of the dream?
          the warmth of all that could be?


are you the one?
or must I go on?


it's been a long long
                    going ever on

I began to wake up
with word pieces -
words music, spoken word, songs -
in my head.
Escape velocity.
Echo of the echo.
Tank almost empty.
Can't cross the gap.
Welcome into my world.
