One isn't born a goth. Even if our parents are goths, we don't start out goth. We're just babies.

But being a goth - at some point, it's way more glamourous than being a fairy tale princess or a Ninja Turtle. All that black. And the vibes. Goth vibes. Don't get close. You don't know me.

Goth makeover. Black is basic. Like black hair, maybe with some purply red. Goth girls and women: black lipstick, black eyeliner, black eyebrows, black nail polish. The goth look: goth stuff, goth makeup, basic grungy black goth clothing. With goth jewellry.

That doesnt make people into true goths. Becoming a goth on the inside - that's different. It's like being a grownup or a preteen or a kid on the inside. You are a true goth when you feel like one, no matter what shows on the outside. And you're not when you don't feel like one.

More on true goths. Just like with everything else, from apples to cities to countries, there are all kinds of goths, including some who say you're only a goth if you do it their way. Are those true goths? Sure. They're just nasty ones.

Caro, 13, has never thought of becoming a goth. Then her 2 so-called best friends stop talking to her, a ghost dog moves in next door, a classmate is struck by a hit and run driver, the ghost dog comes to her in the middle of the night - and stuff happens, including goth stuff.
