A Story about a Very Special Dog -      
and a Very Special Connection         

Caro's parents have never let a pet into the house. Too much work, they've said. But they can't keep out the ghost dog from next door.

Caro's never cared about having a pet.  But she's always loved dog stories, like Call of the Wild. And horse stories, like Black Beauty. And dolphin stories – too many to remember. She's wanted to rescue wild animals and find a way to let them live free. Her favorite TV station is Animal Planet.

Then, into her life comes an animal she's never expected to meet - Fluffers, an invisible dog, a ghost dog. Caro can't see it. But it comes to her at night in her dreams. Caro is scared. What if the dog is out to get her?

One person is totally unafraid of Fluffers. Geela Gribbs. Fluffers is her dog. And Geela is known as more than a little weird, because she takes Fluffers with her everywhere. "Here, Fluffers." "Good girl, Fluffers." Geela and Fluffers - it's a connection, a closeness, Caro has never seen.

Then there's a hit and run on a deserted stretch of road. Fluffers comes for Caro.
