today: FROM RIDING A TIDAL WAVE
TO STUCK ON A TREADMILL
Elsa's Creativity Space - Update
Hello again,
I recently came across a spoken word piece I wrote a few years ago. It sums up how I often feel -
A Tidal Wave with a Typhoon on the Side:
A tidal wave with a typhoon on the side
I am not watching the world go by
Wouldn't miss it for the world.
Here's all of Tidal Wave.
For those of you who are asking, what's spoken word, this is my answer in a nutshell. It's a bit like poetry, and a bit like rap. But unlike poetry, it's meant to be spoken, and often meant to go with music. Plus unlike rap, it's not associated with mainly one emotion (such as anger).
And with that, back to feeling like I'm riding a tidal wave. There's another common feeling - that I'm going nowhere, doing massive work and stuck on a treadmill.
That brings me to another spoken word piece. It's about one response to feeling stuck. It's about what I sense I urgently need - Escape Velocity:
My nerves shriek
I need to reach
ESCAPE VELOCITY
My nerves strain
I must attain
ESCAPE FEROCITY
Here's all of Escape Velocity.
So much keeps happening - like a tidal wave with a typhoon on the side. And so much doesn't - which means more needs to be done.
I write about that pull in more than one way - in spoken word pieces, and in my creativity blog. Recently, on a day I felt particulatly stuck, I wrote
Please Help Me Make My Dreams Come True.
And now, a question: what can it give you, to read something that expresses how someone else feels?
Here's what comes to mind for me. Maybe most, it can bring things alive in ourselves. Then, it can put things into words. It can give us a chance to focus on something we usually don't take time for. And sometimes it brings someone else's reality alive for us, someone different from us.
But what's your answer? What does it give you, when you read something, or hear a piece of music, that expresses part of someone else's reality?
And also, to go back to Typoon and Escape Velocity - do you go between feeling like there's just too much happening and feeling stuck on a treadmill, needing to reach escape velocity?
As always, all the best,
Elsa

Welcome
to Elsa's Creativity Space
Extreme 1: riding a tidal wave.
Extreme 2: stuck on a treadmill.
Elsas Creativity Space Update explores the 2 extremes and asks:
what does it do for us, to enter the world of someone else?
Elsas Creativity Space,
an all-round creativity site
exploring moments, memory, thoughts
through spoken
word, song, story,
idea pieces, rap, journal, reflection, dreams, more.
Elsas Creativity Space.

Gertrude
Stein said, almost a century ago, a rose is a rose is a rose.
Much
easier to say that, than to say
Elsas creativity space is
Elsas creativity space.
But
just as a rose is a rose is a rose,
Elsas creativity space is
Elsas creativity space.
One
could even go on to say that
a rose is a rose by any other name.
Likewise,
one could hold that
Elsas creativity space is
Elsas creativity space
by any other name.
And
many humans might not even notice if,
instead of
Elsas creativity space
I wrote
Elsas creativity place
or
Elsas creativity site.
Most
humans would just register that it's
Elsas creativity something or other.
And
it is.
But there's more.
The name is a signal.
This
is
Elsas creativity place
Elsas creativity space.
i
am not calling mayday. This is not a distress signal.
It's
a hello signal, come see me, notice me.
Hello,
it's Elsas creativity space
Elsas creativity place
calling all search engines
to find me on my island
deserted but fertile
enchanted but isolated
creative and creating but too too alone.
Who
will help me through my dark?
Who will help me make my mark?
Who will help me build my ark?
I cannot do it alone.
I'm
calling to people
but strangely it's not people
I am turning to for help.
It's
the web
the world wide web.
I'm
calling hoping the web will hear that
Elsas creativity place
Elsas creativity space
is calling, calling, calling with longing and hope.
