Elsa's Creativity Space - Update
swirl - creativity emporium  Hello and welcome, Elsa of Elsa's creativity space

Today I'm thinking about creativity, exploring creativity.

My sense is that there's a creative flow in each of us, and if we follow it, if we listen to where it's taking us, our lives go on all kinds of adventures - creative, emotional and also thinking.

My hope: that my stuff helps bring you closer to your own flow - what I call the riches within.

I don't know what most moves you. I know that what most moves me keeps changing. And yet there are a few things I keep coming back to. So anyway, on to creativity explored.

****

My flow has taken me in such unexpected directions. Like, about a decade ago, a friend introduced me to a friend of hers who wanted to do a project on Quebec Seen - views of Quebec. Would I like to become part of it? I said yes - and was taken off somewhere unexpected. Not into Quebec Seen. But into My Chosen Home. Home is ... I asked myself a lot of questions.

The sense of being at home and not being at home - one of the deepest things for many of us.

I didn't want only to see.

Here's the start of the first piece that came to me:

In my own
     my chosen home
On a high plateau
     all alone
     yet cozy
     a nest ...
in this
my chosen home
    I've come to rest

                              MORE

****

That project changed deeply a couple of years later, in the weeks after my father died. I came so much to the sense of his never having felt at home, and of his lifelong longing for a home he never had. Home is ...? He knew the longing for home.

That was another unexpected - and deeply personal - adventure. Creativity explored - my father also loved creativity, loved reading, loved writing poetry. So many father and daughter stories.

****

More recently I've put some of my father's poems on the web - have given them a home - and every month now, a few hundred people find them.

What's at the core of his poems? So often, longing. Here's the only one I've translated into English - it's on the longing for home. (If you speak German, you'll find the link to his own words.)

****

Creativity explored. There have been so many directions to the creative flow in my life:

Silly funny fluff stuff pieces,
also called wild playful sensual poems - like
White Chocolate and Hot Fudge Sauce

Deeper but still light stuff, like
Shopping for Dreams

Deep thinking pieces, like
The Rage of the Righteous

And what some say is my best work,
a preteen novel - you could call it a kid's story,
with a ghost dog and lots of questions about reality,
Caro's Quest

****

The next adventure I see myself going on is into an interactive virtual cafe - Zee's Cafe Cafe - a word music and idea emporium. It's designed. I've taken the next year off "work" - teaching college, which can be totally fun, as it was this past semester, and a drag, as it was the term before. But that's not why I'm taking next year off: I know where I'm being pulled, from inside me, to put my time.

I hope you stay along, enjoy the adventure, and maybe add some of your own stuff.

****

There's so much more to exploring creativity, but this is more than enough for now.

My hope: that there's something that pulls you, something that makes you want to be part of this adventure.

And with that,

All the best to you and to your own creative flow,

Elsa

P.S. I don't know about creativity in your life.
In mine, while there have been lots of ebbs and flows,
but it's always been a massively powerful force.

P.P.S. Comments are very welcome. Click here to see comments.

P.P.P.S. Here's a photo I like - Mama Cat and the Scaredy-Cat Princess curled together, looking very much at home. Home is ...? I think they know what home is.

Thanks for your last message. I've read with interest and came to the opinion, that creativity can't stand still. It has to keep flowing and it starts in your head. The direction is straight forward. There are many side-flows, call them influences, which either alter the direction or maintain it. If they maintain, the flow gets either thicker or faster. If it gets stronger, the direction may be changed, but continues forward.

If the "main-flow" is weak and the "in-flow" strong, the direction may go circular. In this case it either remains circling - the main direction is interrupted and an (unwanted) standstill is reached, or it does not go circling, but even goes backward. This happens when the "in-flow" influences are getting less. In this case it is often the case that the power is diminishing and the original flow is soaking - for longer or shorter periods.

The causes for the stoppage have to be sought. New flux will come and the main direction continues with all the more power. Then the direction will accept influence without changing and the flowing gets bigger. The various influences are being carried along and exist and the mainstream is bigger and more powerful. The various influences are either prevailing or dwindling.

I also had another thought. Creativity. We have been created to create: creation, creature, credence, credit, credo and so on! What would the opposite be? Destroy, obstruct, disbelief, hide, mistrust, refuse, and so on! That can't possibly be.

Welcome to Elsas Creativity Space

Gertrude Stein said, almost a century ago, a rose is a rose is a rose.

So flat, those words.

But what is a rose?

And from there you come to creativity.

Creativity explored - more varied that roses.
Creativity explored - all of life.

Roses have more similarity than the pages
of Elsas Creativity Space.

Creativity explored - the creative flow.
Creativity explored - the riches within.
Creativity explored - word magic, word alchemy.
Creativity explored, exploring creativity, about creativity.
Creativity lived.

Home is there too, and my father my self.
Home is ... What is home?
Home is ... ever-changing.
Home is ... where the heart is.

My father myself. His self, my self.
Father and daughter stories,
Father and daughter longings.
Father and daughter lives connected by deep longings.

That, today, is what's in this
Elsas Creativity Space Update.
