   Hello again,    

What do I have for you today? What idea pieces? What creative stuff? Lots.

Today: my father, myself - plus, paranormal or para-nutty?

My father, myself. I always felt closest to my father. In some ways I even felt we were the same person. We shared a huge desire, and a demon. The desire: to express ourselves through creative forms. The demon: it was impossible for him, and very difficult for me, to reach people with these works.

My gift to him, 5 years after his death, is to start putting his works on the web. He would have loved me to help him when he was alive. But then, I couldn't even find a way for my own works to get out into the world. Things have changed quite a bit. Last month, October 2008, my site had over 26,600 page views.

Last month, as well, I put my father's first poems on the web, in a section of his own - Erwin Schieder, Dichter, Traeumer - Erwin Schieder, Poet, Dreamer.

We're so alike in so many ways. We've both dreamed big dreams. We've both also felt so much longing, including a longing for home. Longing - there's a more powerful word in German, Sehnsucht.

And that's the title of the first of his poems I put on the web.

Longing, Yearning, Aching (English translation).

Here's the original version, Die Sehnsucht.

Longing - that was such a big part of a reflection on home I wrote just after my father's death.

And longing for home - that's the core of the next 2 of my father's poems (German only):

Wo Mein Zuhause Ist and Du und Deine Heimat.

There's so much else. But for today, I'd say that's just about enough.

One more thing, perhaps. Recently I wrote on

A Longing for True Stories of the Paranormal

I know, for traditionally religious people it's no big thing. They proclaim their certainty that god exists, given the slightest opportunity. They don't even deal with anything like proof of life after death. For them, it's a given that ghosts exist, that true paranormal experiences abound - just as it's a given that trees exist....

My starting point. What is real? How can one know ...

Most humans would just register that it's

And it is.
But there's more.

The name is a signal.

i am not calling mayday. This is not a distress signal.

It's a hello signal, come see me, notice me.

Hello,
it's Elsas creativity space
Elsas creativity place
calling all search engines
to find me on my island
deserted but fertile
enchanted but isolated
creative and creating but too too alone.

Who will help me through my dark?
Who will help me make my mark?
Who will help me build my ark?
I cannot do it alone.

I'm calling to people
but strangely it's not people
I am turning to for help.

It's the web
the world wide web.

I'm calling hoping the web will hear that
