Elsa's Creativity Space - Update
   Hello again,    

What do I have for you today? What idea pieces? What creative stuff?

I have three things:

* one on the idea side, to do with the ultimate reality;
* one on the spoken word side, on shopping for dreams;
* and one on the more personal.

On the idea side, I recently explored my vision of the ultimate reality, something I've cared about, every now and then, since childhood. So many voices from all sides, with every kind of vision, from a rigid god handing out rigid penalties - like fiery agony forever - all the way to nothingness after death. Here's my thinking.

Almost everyone has asked themselves similar questions. I'd love to have you add: what's your vision of the ultimate reality - and most important, WHY is this your vision?

On the creativity side, there's Shopping for Dreams. The inspiration: so many of my students say they have no imagination - yet I know that, at least while shopping, many are living more in a dream world than in whatever shop they're visiting. At least that's how it was for me:

        on the top of the list

        hoping the dream will come real

Then, what's been happening?

I haven't written an update in almost 3 months.

Why not? I've had a burning desire to get my stuff out into the world almost my whole life long. That desire hasn't gone.

The big reason for the space between updates: there's only so much time in the day. Partly, I've been trying to get the site more and more visible. I can measure the progress with some solid numbers: December 2007, 5506 page views; December 2008, 27687; January 2009, 33862.

Much more, I've been trying to figure out the best next step.

I know what I want next, where my burning desire is leading me now: community through a membership site.

Why? I teach - and I see how so much can happen though an ongoing connection. It's very different - deeper - than what could happen in one meeting. Plus, it's only with time that I get to connect with the students - and then it's good-bye.

Here there's no need for good-bye. It could be community for however long people want to stay.

Back to the past 3 months. I'm a relative newcomer to the web, Three years ago, I knew nothing. Every new step still takes loads of research for me. But I think I've found out how I could do this!

Chances are, getting things on the web will take another few months. I'll keep you updated.

A photo. Whenever I look up from my computer, there's at least one cat around. In this case, Mama Cat and the Scaredy-Cat Princess were curled together for hours.

whether it's about the ultimate reality
or a shopping song abut shopping for dreams/

One could even go on to say that
a rose is a rose by any other name.

Likewise, one could hold that
Elsas creativity space is
Elsas creativity space
by any other name -
whether it's about religious beliefs,
a shopping poem or something else.

And many humans might not even notice if,
instead of
Elsas creativity space
I wrote
Elsas creativity place
or
Elsas creativity site.

Most humans would just register that it's
Elsas creativity something or other.

Or they might just see: the ultimate reality,
or shopping song about shopping for dreams.

And it is.
But there's more.

The name is a signal.

This is
Elsas creativity place
Elsas creativity space.

i am not calling mayday. This is not a distress signal.

It's a hello signal, come see me, notice me.

Hello,
it's Elsas creativity space
Elsas creativity place
calling all search engines
to find me on my island
deserted but fertile
enchanted but isolated
creative and creating but too too alone.

Who will help me through my dark?
Who will help me make my mark?
Who will help me build my ark?
I cannot do it alone.

I'm calling to people
but strangely it's not people
I am turning to for help.

It's the web
the world wide web.

I'm calling hoping the web will hear that

Elsas creativity space
is calling, calling, calling with longing and hope -
for a shopping spree, a shopping song, about ...
more than shopping, about the ultimate reality.
