![]() today: HEALTHY PRIORITIES Hello again, Sometimes things just flow. Sometimes they don't. Sometimes things are thrilling and it's great. Sometimes we want things to be calm and steady. I don't know about you, but this past half year, I've had more upheavals than I wanted - and yet I'd also say that a lot of things were overdue - like a car that doesn't break down, but there's smoke from the engine, brakes that squeal, a muffler that sounds like a jet on take-off. My current interest is getting more connected inside - taking care of inner things through body centered approaches. One of my ways of trying to do this (I already wrote about this is my previous update) is through Taoist exercises to connect to one's inner vitality, one's chi (as in Tai Chi). The exercises are unusual, at least for me. But I've been enjoying them. In case you'd like to try them too, here's a link to these inner connection exercises. When I think back to the upheavals - and to (metaphorically) not paying attention to smoke from the engine, jet take-off noise from the muffler, and squealing brakes - I ask myself, what should have been different? One answer: priorities. I've written about, thought about, taught about the importance of good priorities. It isn't just priorities, though. Sometimes one just doesn't know what to do. One gets stuck. One gives up, at least for a time. But I don't want to stay there. I've always had some interest in body centered approaches. And now I'm trying several - such as the inner connection exercises I've mentioned. I'm thinking of the film, Ordinary People - excellent film with Donald Sutherland (looking young) and Mary Tyler Moore. At the end, the wife almost breaks down, but fights for control - and wins, which is also how she loses. I'm seeing her, in my mind's eye - her struggle not to change. My struggle is different: how does one get the changes, within oneself, that one wants? I think of people who keep wanting to lose weight - and find it very hard. Weight isn't my issue - but I sympathize. Lots of changes aren't easy. I'd love to hear what has worked for you. Then, for now and always, all the very best, All the very best, Elsa stirring inner fires PS. The links to the exercises, by the way, are affiliate links.
